Historic Restoration
While materials fade with age, some old architecture is so outstanding that it needs to be restored and preserved.  Few contractors have the skill to accomplish true historical restoration.  We offer it without hesitation, walking the fine line that connects construction to art.  One project in particular stands out.  Harris Bank in Libertyville had been remodeled from a quaint structure to a more modern one.  Vanderwerff Construction Company then restored it to its original state.  The original designs carved in stone above the front entry were destroyed during the 1950’s modernization.  We recreated them by hand carving the designs in stone. Our trades people replaced rotted wood, matched original bricks, created custom-made pieces to replace original trim work, and matched extinct paint colors and architectural styles. This allowed the building to be named to the National Historic Registry.

The photos seen below are all examples of our patience, painstaking care, detail, and craftsmanship, as we restored structures from the 1920’s and before.  All this work was done on time and at fair, honest prices that were well within client budgets.  That is our company mission and heritage.  Call Dale Vanderwerff for complete details at 847-362-2448.
